Profile

Mr Foo Kok Jwee (符国裕) is the Chief of Government Communications, Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI). Prior to his current appointment, Mr Foo was Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Data Officer of Workforce Singapore. He was also Singapore’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva from September 2014 to August 2019. During this period, he was concurrently Singapore’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Vienna, Resident Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Permanent Representative to the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO). 

Mr Foo is a career diplomat. He joined the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999 and worked in a variety of roles. He served in the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta between 2002 and 2006. As Director-General of the Technical Cooperation Directorate between 2011 and 2014, he ran the Singapore Cooperation Programme, which is the primary platform through which Singapore extends technical assistance to more than 100 developing countries around the world. He was Director for Academic Matters in the Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Academy between 2010 and 2012. 

Mr Foo was also appointed Press Secretary to Senior Minister (and later Emeritus Senior Minister) Goh Chok Tong from December 2010 to May 2014. He was concurrently Director (Special Duties) in Singapore’s Ministry of Communications and Information during this period.
